Day 103

I love this photo. I took it on Saturday when I took my little brother Noah down to the pig pen. On the way back he noticed a bird perched in a tree, and that is what he was looking at and smiling about. Thankfully I had my camera with me, so I snapped a few shots of him before he noticed. Since he's so short it looks like he's in a jungle, and I wish that one piece of grass in front of his face was not there. But other than that, I think it turned out well. I used the Dusk effect from picmonkey.com.

I also wanted to let you know that I won't be posting again for a while, since I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a youth conference.

Day 102

Today I was making roses out of plastic party spoons. You use a candle to soften the spoon, then shape it into a petal, then meld them together. Long story short, I decided that my rose would be the subject of today's photo. My setup consisted of a pair of jeans, a window, and a book. I stood the book up, then laid the jeans over it on a table to make the backdrop. I set this up by a window to get the natural lighting. I decided that for editing I wanted to get a really artistic look. To get that, I made the photo black and white, but left the rose the original color. I then added dark edges to give the photo the finished look.

Day 101

Today I'm going to post another photo that I took while I was walking around the lake yesterday. This one reminded me of a path from a fairytale book. To enhance this idea, I softened the photo, then added light edges that I faded quite a bit.

Day 100

I can't believe I've posted 100 photos already!
Yesterday my family and I went for a walk around the lake. I decided to bring along my camera. I liked this photo for the symmetry with the reflection, and the interesting shapes from the clouds and treeline. I made it black and white, then added dark edges.

Day 99

This is another photo from yesterday morning. I love how you can see the veins and detail of the leaves. If I could change it I would take out the leaf in the bottom right corner that's out of focus because it distracts from the focal point. I took some cool photos at the river today but haven't had time to look through them. Hopefully I'll get a good one for tomorrow.

Day 98

This morning I was with my brothers and sister waiting for my mom to pick us up, and I decided to use the time to take some pictures of the giant ragweed that grows around my house. I love taking macro images of plants because there is so much detail to capture. I liked the Holga effect on this picture because it decreases the noise and adds an air of elegance or refinement.

Day 97

This morning I was on my way to check the pigs' water and just happened to have my camera with me. My brother, sister, and I have worn down a path through the grass to the pig pen, and this morning I decided it would make a cool photo. To take the photo I squatted down so that the grass which is usually about at my hips was now over my head. I added the Dusk effect, but faded it considerably to get the mood I wanted in the photo.

Day 96

I was at a day camp all day today, so I didn't get a chance to take any new pictures this morning. But as I was clearing off my memory stick after I got back I found this macro of an apple tree I took a couple weeks ago. I love how there is the detail and texture of the bark, and then the fuzzy, beautiful background of the other apple trees. I added dark edges to this photo, because I think it makes the photo more finished looking, and enhances the textural appeal of the bark.

Day 95

Last night my 4-H club had our meeting at the park, so I took the opportunity to take this macro of a tree. I love the texture in this photo, and also the angle.  I added dark edges to enhance the detail in the bark and also make the green leaves in the distance less distracting.

Day 94

This morning my little brother and I were walking around looking at the clover that was blooming. I liked this photo because it's different in that the leaves and stem of the plant are in focus while the actual flower was slightly out of focus. I liked the photo as black and white because it makes it more artistic looking and almost abstract.

Day 93

Yesterday my mom, sister, and I went to a local swap meet to sell some rabbits. As usual, I tend to walk around and look at other booths. These display of wallets was in one of my favorite booths, where they sell saddles, bridles, and purses. I painted on black and white and left one pink wallet in color to give a focal point and make the photo less busy.

Day 92

I just thought I'd let you know now that I won't be posting anything tomorrow since I'm going to a livestock judging contest. I can't wait. The photo today is of the roof of my grandfather's house. I like the lighting and the white and blue colors in this photo.

Day 91

Is anyone else fascinated by tree bark or is it just me? I've been taking a lot of macro photos of various trees recently.  I chose to post this one today because it was more interesting than the others because I took the photo from an angle to show the canopy of leaves and the trunk continuing out of the area of focus.

Day 90

I was flipping through some of the photos I took last Friday at my grandfather's house, and I noticed this one of his garden. When I was taking the photo I liked the pattern of the rows, and took the photo at an angle to add some interest and depth. If I could change one thing I would take out the yellow piece on the electric fence in the background, as I find it a little distracting from the overall image. When editing I applied the Dusk effect on picmonkey.com, and faded it out a little to get the look I wanted.

Day 89

Sorry I didn't post anything last Friday, I was out at my grandpa's house all day. While I was there I did take this photo of the path he takes on his tractor to feed cattle and such. I liked the textural contrast between the grass and the mud, as well as the lighting.
